Seurasaari Open-Air Museum
Seurasaari Open-Air Museum (Helsinki) — the open-air museum of Seurasaari (founded in 1909) is located on a beautiful green island just a few kilometers from downtown Helsinki. The island is a tranquil oasis in the midst of the city and at the museum the traditional Finnish way of life is displayed in the cottages, farmsteads and manors of the past four centuries that have been relocated from all around Finland. At present, there are 87 separate buildings at Seurasaari Museum.
The museum also includes a country shop and several farmhouses and smaller cottages such as the Kurssi and Ivars houses from Ostrobothnia, the Selkämä house from eastern Finland, the Halla house from northeastern Finland, and the Pertinotsa house from Karelia. Admission: €8 (adult), €6 (seniors & students), €2.50 (children 7-17 years) Hours: 11 am – 5 pm (daily). Note: the museum is only open during the months of June through August.
