Mannerheim Museum

Mannerheim Museum (Kalliolinnantie 14, Helsinki) — this museum depicting the life and times of Baron Gustaf Mannerheim, Marshal of Finland (1867—1951), has been functioning since 1951 in the same villa in the Kaivopuisto district of Helsinki where he lived during the 1924—51 period.  He is revered by Finns everywhere since he fought for the country’s freedom, and eventually became the country’s president.

 

With the exception of a few rooms that have been converted for exhibition purposes, his home has been preserved in its original state. Guided tours are available in seven languages, and the museum also possesses vast photographic archives.  Admission:  €10 (adult), €8 (senior and students), free for children under 12 years.  The fee includes a guided tour.  Hours:  11 am – 4 pm (Fri. –  Sun.).  See the museum’s website for more details:  www.mannerheim-museo.fi
